Working Out

1) The National Mall

Soak up the sights while jogging across the Mall. Start the scenic 2.2-mile route at the Capitol, then run past the Washington Monument, the Reflecting Pool, the Smithsonian museums, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Once you hit the Lincoln reflecting pool, run up the steps Rocky style for an extra cardio boost.

Various locations

The chain’s three-level flagship gym on Capitol Hill (315 G St., SE) boasts a nearly 40-foot-high indoor rockclimbing wall, a full basketball court, and four international-sized squash courts. The Downtown gym (1101 Conn. Ave., NW) has a Hydroworx Training Pool that lets you swim against a controlled current or walk on an underwater treadmill. $19 for a day pass.

3) The Sports Club/L.A.
1170 22nd St., NW
Celebs including Michael Jordan and George Clooney have sweat here. The gym is a whopping 100,000 square feet, so you’ll rarely be fighting for equipment. Play a pickup game of hoops, swim some laps at the pool, or kick and punch your way through a POW class to build a fighter’s strength and conditioning. $15 a day for Ritz-Carlton guests.

Hanging Out

4) Old Ebbitt Grill
675 15th St., NW

White House insiders are known to power lunch here, feasting on delicious (yet affordable) dishes like “cowboy” steaks and Parmesan-crusted trout. The historic saloon has been a favorite watering hole among Presidents Grant, Johnson (Andrew), Cleveland, Roosevelt (Theodore), and Harding. No word on whether 44 has sipped here.

5) CityZen
1330 Maryland Ave., SW

Impress your First Lady. The menu is always changing, but you can count on inventive dishes from award-winning chef Eric Ziebold. If you’re dining solo, pull up a stool for the three-course bar tasting menu: At $50, it’s a steal.

6) Saki Asian Grille
2477 18th St., NW
Come for the sushi—and the meet. It’s the best place in town to pick up spicy tuna rolls and smashed single ladies.

7) Camelot Show Bar
1823 M St., NW

Sure, the drinks are a tad pricey. But there’s no cover in this multi-storied strip club that even King Arthur would envy.
