4. Climb up to the “Big C” for an epic view of the Bay Area (Berkeley, CA)
While the University of California-Berkeley is best known as a mecca for ultra-liberal twentysomethings, shoeless hippies, and organic, locally-sourced cuisine (which, we’ll admit, is freaking delicious), it’s also home to some of the best views (and brews) in the entire Bay Area.
Pack up a late lunch and hike up to the “Big C”—literally a huge letter “C” that’s painted by Berkeley students as part of campus tradition—where you’ll be able to watch the sun set over San Francisco, Marin County, and the East Bay. If you’re in need of a cold beer afterwards, the nearby Triple Rock Brewery (well known for its Monkey Head Arboreal Ale) and Fieldwork Brewing Company are excellent spots to sample some local lagers, whereas East Bay Spice Co. and Prizefighter are the go-to spots for skillfully crafted, creative cocktails.Back to top
