The Historic Bullock Hotel
Set in the heart of aptly named Deadwood, South Dakota is the historic Bullock Hotel, named after the town’s first sheriff, Seth Bullock. A bit of a character (and one of Teddy Roosevelt’s best friends), Bullock’s ghost has famously haunted the hotel for decades. The most commonly reported encounters include the faint scent of cigar smoke and sound of boots stomping through otherwise empty halls. But it’s Seth’s Cellar Restaurant that claims most of the paranormal activity. It’s not rare for dishes and glassware to inexplicably fly off the shelves, and some employees have even heard old ragtime tunes coming from the bar’s piano—without a human player in sight.
