Estacada Timber Festival – Estacada, Oregon
Logging played a pivotal role in the growth of American industry, and nowhere is that heritage – and continuing reality – felt more clearly than the Pacific Northwest. To truly appreciate the legacy of timber production in Oregon, you could read Ken Kesey’s Sometimes a Great Notion (recommended), or you could come to the Estacada Timber Festival. The annual event celebrates logging culture in all of its caulked-boot glory with a day full of choker setting, double bucking, tree pole climbing, and lots of other great games you have to see to fully understand.
