Jackson County, North Carolina
Only the westernmost corner of North Carolina, right there in the Blue Ridge Mountains, will land within the eclipse’s best viewing path. And all four towns in Jackson County will get in on the action, including Cashiers, Sylva, Dillsboro, and Cullowhee. The resort town of Cashiers goes dark for the longest, locking in two minutes and 23 seconds from around 2:36 p.m.
Watch: The Village Green Park in Cashiers is where most people will gather to watch. Get out on of the trails in the nearby Panthertown Valley Wilderness Area for a lonelier experience.
Stay: The High Hampton Inn & Country Club (no relation to the Hampton Inn chain) has standard guest rooms as well as vacation rentals with availability during the eclipse.Back to top
