Hike the ‘W’ through Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park
A new airport opened in Puerto Natales, Chile, in 2016, making Patagonia’s most famous hike more accessible than ever before. To do the five-day, four-night W Trek through Torres del Paine National Park, you previously had to fly into Punta Arenas and catch a bus about five hours north to the park entrance. Now you can arrive in Puerto Natales and be on the W trail less than two hours later. Expect spectacular views of soaring massifs, turquoise lakes, and the southern edge of the Patagonian Ice Field, the world’s third-largest fresh water reserve after Greenland and Antarctica.
