1. Cycle through the harvest in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Spin and sip through some of the best vineyards and microbreweries in Oregon along the 132-mile Willamette Valley Scenic bikeway, which crosses Oregon’s agricultural heartland between the Coast and Cascade mountain ranges nearly all the way from Portland, in the north, to Eugene, in the south. September is harvest season in the valley, and many vineyards and hop farms along the way will celebrate the new bounty with big celebrations. Stomp on some pinot noir at Willamette Valley Vineyards’ Harvest Celebration (Sept. 24–25) or sample some craft beers instead as you pluck hops at the Agrarian Ales Hop Harvest Festival (Sept. 2–4).
