Alaskan Amber Ale, Alaska Airlines
There’s no land route from Alaskan Brewing’s hometown of Juneau to the lower 48 states, so if you want to get some beer in or out of the city, you’re choices are boats and planes. You might as well enjoy one of the city’s finest beers on the way in and out, and thanks to Alaska Airlines you can tip back the company’s flagship Amber Ale. With a rich, toasty malt flavor and milder hops than most American amber ales, Alaskan Amber is brewed the style of a German alt, or “old,” beer. To Germans this traditional way of brewing means using ale yeast, but aging the beer like a lager. The result is a crisp, easy drinking ale that drinks with lager-like crispness.
