Where It Goes: The northern entrance is just minutes from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, while the southern terminus rests right next to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina.

Where to Stop: With a maximum speed of 45 mph and no commercial vehicles allowed, the Blue Ridge Parkway is a leisurely, super-chill road trip. Allow yourself a few days to enjoy it. Be sure to check out Poor Farmer’s Market in Virginia at Mile 178 and take a sunrise hike at Waterrock Knob in North Carolina, (Mile 451), from which you can see North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina.
