For the last 31 years, Tony Hawk has been the international face of skateboarding. In that time, the 45-year-old California native has put on some serious miles, competing regularly in Europe and South America before becoming an X Games commentator. Time on the road has done nothing to dampen the Birdman’s appetite for travel. He’s a busy dude – when he’s not commentating, he’s helping run the RideChannel on YouTube – who makes himself busier still by embarking on regular trips with his rather sprawling family, a seven-person (or eight, depending on his older son’s girlfriend situation) contingent of contradictory needs and ideas. And yes, he’s bringing all of them to Munich for this week’s 2013 Summer X Games, which you can catch live on ESPN and the ESPN website.
Hawk told ‘Men’s Journal’ about his favorite destinations for family trips, his work with Charity:Water, and why children and Vegas mix surprisingly well.
