Kayo, Imerovigli, Greece
Tucked into the divide between the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea is the tiny island of Santorini, Greece. High above the water’s edge is the tiny village of Imerovigli, with less than 500 permanent residents, several Cycladic style churches, and stunning views that have earned it the moniker “the balcony to the Aegean.”
Kayo, like most rentals in town, is suspended over the edge of the Caldera cliff, offering stunning views. Along with the deck it also comes equipped with a double bed, full kitchenette, and small sitting area, plus Internet access. If you tire of spending the day staring at the sea, you can explore the islands by foot, the main town of Fira is a 20-minute walk away, or catch the ferry to other islands nearby.
Getting there: Once you fly into Athens you have two choices, catch a direct flight to the island, or catch the ferry from the port of Piraeus (one-hour away) and then embark on a ten-hour trip to the island, with numerous stops in between. Once on the island catch a taxi to the village.
